Tree-man syndrome explained. The causes? CD28 deficiency!

Another inborn error of immunity explained by Jean-Laurent Casanova's lab and colleagues.


The study of three patients with inherited CD28 deficiency, one of them having the "tree-man syndrome", reveals a narrow susceptibility to severe cutaneous HPV infection. The fact that the patients were otherwise healthy highlights the redundancy for signal 2 in T cell activation and protective immunity.
